New Moon Healing Spell

Hello my loves! A week ago I posted an article, Witches, Unite in the Fight! , encouraging you guys to utilize the upcoming new moon energies in a way that will be beneficial to yourself as well a the community around you. I shared this article on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook, using the hashtag #WitchesAgainstCOVID19 to spread the word.

It is my hope that I reached a large enough number of witches to make a difference. Even if you aren’t using this spell but choose to instead write your own, or use a spell by another witch, what matters is our intentions are in sync. (Cue N’sync song…) Whatever you choose is fine, all I ask is that we work together to protect our community and offer support to the scientists and medical health professionals who are spending countless hours working towards developing treatment or vaccines, or towards healing the sick. They’re putting their health- their lives- on the line, for the sake of ours.

Sigil for New Moon Spell fighting COVID19

New Moon Spell

What You Need:

  • candle (white or blue, for healing),
  • needle/nail, or something sharp to inscribe sigil on candle
  • lighter/matches,
  • sigil,
  • peace and quiet
  • Optional: a satellite image of your town/city, with your home clearly visible

It is an ancient belief that thoughts can become things, which means that your mind has the ability to manifest your desires. This requires your mental concentration, the ability to visualize your belief, and the raising of energy through your emotional investment. See your desire in your mind, believe in its manifestation, and direct energy toward realizing it in your life.

What We Knew in the Night, Raven Grimassi (pg. 181)

What You’ll Do:

Charge your candle with the New Moon energies. You can either put it in a window sill or set it outside. In the meantime, make the sigil your own. You can either print it off and trace it a few times while concentrating on the intention, or make your own sigil using the intention associated with the sigil. (All living souls of my community are protected against threats to their health.)

When your candle is charged, inscribe the sigil on the candle (I find it’s easiest to draw the sigil on the bottom of the candle).

You can cast a circle and call the quarters if you wish. Ground and center, shifting your mind to a higher frequency. Find your powers- your ability to work magic, your ability to manifest intentions. My power center is in my belly. Some work from their heart, others their mind. Find it, and let that power grow filling your entire being. When you feel that you are ready, light the candle.

As you gaze at the candle, see the healing energies of the New moon glowing around the candle in a blue orb. Concentrate on that orb, and see it grow as you think about protecting yourself. When the orb has grown enough to enclose yourself within it, then think about protecting your family, and see the orb grow enough to enclose your home. The next step is going to be the most difficult – you may wish to get your photo of your town. See this orb continue to grow, enclosing your neighbors, then your neighborhood. Then it surrounds your entire town in protective energies. You can send down roots into the ground to pull energy from the Earth if you need to. Send out feelers to your fellow witches, supporting each other in this working. Imagine that you are creating an invisible shield against this virus. Even imagine little viruses flying around and bouncing off your shield. Start to bring your focus inward, gradually bringing it back to yourself when you’re ready. That shield is still there…know that with all your being. Get some water and something to eat and rest. This is a simple but powerful working, and you don’t want to over exert yourself.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me! I will be performing this spell tonight, March 24th, at 10 pm, EST.

By protecting our communities, we are making the fight against this pandemic that much more manageable. As the month goes on, use the fiery energies of Aries to send support to the people working towards creating vaccines, treatments..studying the virus in general. Send support to nurses, doctors and medical health professionals. Send support to teachers, who are doing their best to provide education to future doctors and scientists. We are witches, and we can make a difference.

Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.

Get to Know a Goddess: Part 4

November 22nd: Leucothea

Happy Birthday Sagittarius Babies! Sagittarius is the centurion archer who represents harmonious mingling of the physical and spiritual living. Saggitarians tend to have a strong drive for justice, much like the goddess Leucothea.

Leucothea is a Greek goddess. The word Leucothea translates to “milk-white goddess”, alluding to her maternal nature. According to mythology, Leucothea was the mother of centaurs, and wet nurse for the famous Dionysus. In more recent times she is depicted as a sea goddess with art work presenting her as a mermaid. Telesco (author of 365 Goddess, the inspiration and resource for this post) explains that through this transformation “we see the mingling of the spiritual nature (water) with that of the earth (half-human appearance) to create Sagittarius’s customary energies.”.

Themes

  • Creativity
  • Energy
  • Communication
  • Balance
  • Harmony
  • Change

Symbols

  • Bow and Arrow
  • White items
  • Milk
  • Seawater

Celebrating Leucothea

Include milk or milk product in your diet today to consume a bit of Leucothea’s maternal nature or invoke her spiritual balance into your life. Wearing white is a way to figuratively don her power.

Ask Leucothea for help with personal transformation, especially those that encourage personal comfort and tranquility, while taking a salt water or milk bath.

Get to Know a Goddess: Part 3

November 18th: Matariki

Matariki, a Hawaiian Goddess, becomes the Pleiades with her six children in Polynesian mythology. Six kids! My goodness, you’d have to be a goddess to be a mother of 6. I have hard enough time with my son and my nephew!

Themes:

  • Stars
  • Harvest
  • Peace

Symbols:

  • Stars
  • the Number Seven

Celebrating Matariki

From mid-to-late November, Hawaiians perform special rituals honoring the appearance of the Pleiades in the sky, which marks the start of Harvest Season.

This is a time of peace- all war is forbidden. They all make one wish: that Matariki and her children appear all over the world all the time!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Carry 7 stars in your pocket to encourage peace and harmony for you and all around you. You could draw them, type 7 asterisks ******* and print it off, pull star shaped marshmallows from Lucky Charms Cereal- you get the idea. I have stars tattooed on my thigh, so if I wanted to summon the peace and harmony of Matariki, I could just put my hand over the stars on my leg and infuse them with thoughts of this loving goddess.

If you have seemed to hit a wall on accomplishing a task, call Matariki to help show you the way to finish it efficiently. Pray and meditate, and be open to her messages (which usually show themselves after the starts are in the sky).

Get to know a Goddess: Part 1

A Note from Amanda

Hello my Loves! I know – where the heck have I been? WELL – long story short, my life has been crazy. Last month I took in my nephew, and it’s been crazy keeping up with work, my son, and rearranging my home and routine to accomodate my nephew. I’ve loved having him here, but it has meant putting things on hold- like my poor blog. But, thanks to my mom who randomly found a big box of witchy books, I found a book that inspired me to write a little series for you guys. This time of year is crazy for everyone, and it’s important to keep in touch with your spirituality – especially when things are going well. It takes a few moments a day to stop and think about the Divine. Yesterday I was having a really rough day, so I put my notebooks away, closed my computer, and cleaned and smudged my home. As soon as the exhaust fans sucked out the erratic, emotional energy, I felt at peace. I felt connected to my Matron goddess, the Morrigan. But there are so many goddesses, and I know, as much as Morrigan loves her Ravens, she is fair and she has directed my attention to a number of other goddesses. In the box of books was 365 Goddess by Patricia Telesco. It features a new goddess everyday. So I thought hey-I should share this with my readers! So I’ve done a little research for each of the goddesses I plan to feature in this series, and have designed a 10 part series all about goddesses, and the goodness they can bring into your life. Enjoy my loves!

November 14th: Pukkeenegak

Pukkeenegak is an Inuit goddess who presides over the household and all community affairs. She’s a mother figure, and watches over children, ensuring they have enough food and clothing. She is depicted with a tattooed face, wearing boots and a pretty dress that is ‘befitting the patroness of seamstresses’.

Themes:

  • Kinship
  • Community
  • Thankfulness
  • Charity
  • Kindness

Symbols:

  • Tattoos

Celebrating Pukkeenegak

Today is the Asking Festival in Alaska. Children and adolescents go door to door gathering foods for a huge community feast. After the meal, people petition one another for gifts, “exchanging the entire community’s goods in the spirit of thanksgiving.”. (Telesco, 1998) To honor Pukeenegak, organze a potluck dinner, leaving a place dedicated just for her.

As she is the Patroness of Seamstresses, wear special clothing to reflect the goddesses’ gift with needle and thread. Or, in light of community, organize a clothing or a coat drive. Each one of the recipients of the donated goods will also receive a blessing from Pukkeenegak.

Tense situations seem to always tag along with holidays and season changes, so it’s bound to slither into your home. If it has, you can call the goddess to your home by drawing an emblem of peace over your heart chakra or the back of your hand. Use a non-toxic marker or body paint, of course. Let it wear off naturally, by which time the soothing magic of Pukkeenegak will have permeated your home.

Thoughtful Thursdays: Finding the Magical in the Mundane

✨✨There is magic all around, no matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing… you just have to be open to it. There are many realms within this world – little worlds within this world: Forests, Fields, Beaches, Backyards even. Today I will tell you how to transform a mundane walk through the woods into a Spellcrafting Stroll through a Magical Woodland. ✨✨

When you have the chance, go for a walk through the woods. When you step onto the path, you are entering a different world. Instead of a vast blue sky and all-encompassing light, the air is cool, the breeze is gentle, the Sun only meeting the ground in sparse rays of light. Continue forward, following the splashes of light – these are your guides to the perfect space in which you will perform your working. Walk slowly, so your eyes can thoroughly observe the scene. What colors do you see – shapes, shadows, take as much of it in as possible. Your goal is to immerse yourself in this world and learn how you fit into it. You are not on the path, you are a part of it..you are a part of the woods.

As you stroll listen to the wind… what is it saying? Pause for a moment and breathe in through your nose. Close your eyes and focus on the scents. What do you smell? You can better understand your surroundings by using your sense of smell to identify the things your eyes don’t detect.

Your hearing can further define the world around you. What can you hear? As a breeze glides through the branches imagine the leaves dancing about when you hear them rustling. Can you identify the bird calling nearby? What do you think the squirrels are chattering about?

Go to the nearest tree and place your hand on its’ body- observe the sturdiness of the trunk… the refreshing coolness of the bark. Stand in the presence of this tree and feel the energy radiating from it- how does it feel against your body? Does it carefully nudge your aura? Or is it a strong force enveloping you in a hug?

The sun peering through the trees is more than streams of light illuminating the forest path…it is the Goddess, sending you energy that, when accepted through your Crown Chakra (the top of your head) merges with yours, making your magic determined and fierce.

Let your intuition guide you to The Spot – the place where you will conjure and cast. When you find this place, stand there for a moment and slowly rotate, taking in your surroundings. The techniques you were practicing along the way will have you all warmed up for this task. Once you have etched the area into your mind, stand comfortably with your feet shoulder width apart. Feel your power start to warm and rise in your belly, and send it down your legs, through your feet. Push it from the bottom of your feet into the ground, in the form of roots if that helps. Send those roots deep as you can, allowing them to stop naturally. Now breath deeply, into your belly and then your lungs and hold that breath with the muscles of your belly and chest- don’t close your throat. Hold for the count of 2 or 4, whichever you are more comfortable with, and then release. Let the air out of your lungs and then your belly, and again hold by flexing the muscles in your middle. The next deep breath you take, envision you are absorbing the power of the earth, drawing it up with your breath. Continue this breathing technique until the energy has traveled up the roots, entered your feet, then up your legs, into your belly, rising up until your body has fully absorbed the powers of the Earth. How does it feel as it merges with your personal power? With the power of the sun?

Now comes the fun part! You may cast a circle if you wish, or set a protective barrier around you. In Wicca, the circle is cast in order to keep the energy raised in a contained space. It condenses as it increases, and so when you finally open the circle it is sent into the world like a stone shot into a field with a slingshot. In Celtic magic, the circle does the opposite in a way, whereas instead of creating a pressure cooker for magic, it establishes a sacred space with no veil so the deities or spirits you call to may communicate with you. Depending on the working I may use the Wiccan circle or I may use the Celtic. Whichever you use, if any, is totally up to you.

This working will be sent into the Universe, to tweak and shake the delicate strands of the Web of Life encouraging the series of events necessary to ensure that what you desire will come to pass. The power of Speech was believed to be immensely powerful by the Celts, so begin by stating your desire out loud. See the destination in your minds’ eye – if you are casting for a new career, imagine your daily routine from the moment you wake up until the time you lay down to sleep. How has your life changed with this new career? Do you drive a different car? Does your house have any new furniture? What is your range of emotions through the day? Do you have a peaceful commute? Or do you start your day by taking your laptop out to the chair on your back porch to check emails in your pajamas while you sip on coffee? What was the busiest part of the day? How did you feel when the rush was over? See these things clearly as possible. When you get home from work or when you decide your work day is over,  are you tired?…feel a sense of accomplishment?…giddy because you landed a new client? When you are getting ready for bed, what thoughts are going through your mind?

When your journey self drifts to sleep, bring your awareness back to your body. Ground the energy speeding through your body and with it send your intent. Once the energy charged with your Will is pushed into the earth the soil will nurture it, help it grow sturdy and strong.  The power of the Sky is of the element Fire, so it is the spark that will bring change to your life that will lead you to your goal. Feel that spark traveling with the power of Sky through your body, and when it comes up your midsection to your head let the power shoot out of the Crown chakra and rain down around you. Feel the strength and stability and potential merge with the earth energy and send it back down your roots. This energy is now a part of the Woodland floor, the soil in which these trees have taken root. The trees will absorb the energy, and the sunlight that caresses their leaves will ignite the intent into motion.

You should pour a bit of water onto the earth as an offering and a sign of gratitude for accepting your presence and for contributing to your magic.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Your body, mind, and soul are the only tools you need to make magic. Sure, an athame or wand helps to focus magic but your finger is just as efficient- maybe even more powerful, at casting a circle.  Your Will, Determination, and your Imagination- your Inner Sight are essential to magic as they are the catalysts which bring your desires to life.  Your bodily senses will define the world around you, help you understand how you fit into it. Your intuition will guide you towards the location both safe and sacred -perfect for making magic- and your Inner Sight will set into motion that which you are determined to accomplish…what you Will.
